There's mayhem and murder in the Brewster mansion, after New York theatre critic Mortimer Brewster unexpectedly discovers a corpse in the window seat, then comes a confession from his two spinster aunts, Abby and Martha, that they've been compassionately serving up poisoned home-made elderberry wine to elderly and homeless old men. With the help of his eccentric but harmless brother, Teddy, (aka Theodore Roosevelt), and after a decent funeral, their bodies – fourteen in total - are buried down in their cellar.
With the unexpected arrival of his sinister, murderous brother Jonathan and his mad assistant and plastic surgeon Dr Einstein, Mortimer realises that his relatives are one crazy homicidal family, and that his recent engagement to girl-next-door, Elaine, cannot go ahead.
This classic and madcap comedy ran on Broadway for 3 years, before being made into a film, starring Cary Grant.
Director Bette Sartore, and her cast, including some talented new performers to the Cathouse stage, promise a fun-filled time for all.
